JOIN US FOR TWO FREE EVENING SEMINARS!
"School Design for Health and Achievement"
April 7th & 14th
7:00 p.m. - 10:00pm
Addison Conference Center
Program Synopsis
It is a well established fact that architecture influences the health and performance of building occupants. This seminar series examines the design and environmental factors which effect human learning. Simple proven design principles will lead to higher rates of learning and higher standardized test scores, while reducing illness related absenteeism and childhood obesity. Forty years of research and experience will be translated into simple principles which can be immediately implemented by your child’s school. A healthy, happy child is a high performance child.
Featured speakers will include an educational physiologist to discuss the biological aspects of how the environment (sunlight, fresh air, access to nature) affects student learning, experts on the design of child-centric schools, and practitioners that will show how they can be built for no more than the window-less boxes we build now.
AIA, AICP, and CNU-A credits will be offered!
Become CNU-Accredited!
The CNU Accreditation program was recently launched to recognize the talent within the new urbanist movement for creating walkable, sustainable places. The accreditation program seeks to elevate the practice of the principles of New Urbanism and to develop a premier standard of professional excellence in the design of the built environment. Professionals who meet the requirements of accreditation will be recognized as CNU-Accredited.
The next opportunity to register for the exam will begin Dec. 2009, with the exam access window in March and April of 2010.
